Comic Patrol Pod

Imagine your six year old kid goes to sleep one day and just doesn't wake up. Imagine you take her all over the place to difference types of specialists and nobody has any answers for you. Now imagine that an old man flies in, being carried by a flock of owls and tells you he knows a way to save your daughter: jumping into her dreams.Well, that's what The Moon is Following Us is about. Two parents do the unthinkable and jump into their comatose child's head to fight for her survival - or even just for her to wake up again. It's a strange and unique up and down ride.

Usagi Yojimbo, the samurai rabbit, like you've never seen him before: in space! Talk about a fish out of water story, huh? Here at the pod, we usually love these types of things, where you pluck the hero(es) from a place of comfort and drop them into a setting that is alien to them... in this case, literally.
This is very Star Wars light, as Usagi and friends are tasked with getting codes from an overarching imperial force to save the galaxy. Sound familiar? We bet it does. But is it good? Listen in to find out

There are a lot of vampire stories out there, but something that sets the second volume of Killadelphia: Burn Baby Burn apart from most bloodsucker tales is transparency, among other things. The police know about the vampires! They know about them and even have a branch of the department that specializes in vampire crimes.
When you take that element and add in the gritty writing, historical recreation elements, and cool cameos, you get Killadelphia.
What happens when an organized collection of vampires decide to otherthrow the city, and they aren't worried about being discovered? Listen in if you want to find out.

We all have our own descent into madness, right? Dark, murderous thoughts? Life altering childhood trauma? Ok, maybe not ALL of the above, and maybe one of those things is a little spoiler-y for this book, but we're not going to tell you which one!
Crocodile Black is a dark, twisted story about the places dark thoughts (and mental illness) can take someone. It's moody, it's trippt, it's violent and pretty depressing, but is it a good read? Hit play to find out

Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys debuted back in 1930 and 1927, respectively. And here we are now, in 2025, reading a crossover book from 2017 for our Arc Analysis series.
Not going to lie to you here, we did not know what to expect when we opened up this book, but lets just say it was not at all this. It's a grounded, mature take on joint series of young adult adventure/mystery books. Where this story goes stretches murder, interrogations, drug deals, gangs, etc...This is a prime example of giving a chance to a title you aren't sure about: You never know how much you might like it! (editor's note: we hated it) (edit to the editor's note: that was a joke... maybe).

Coke and Dank had a bit of a special epsiode for the newly minted TMNT/Batman Pull List. There were laughs, there were explainations, there were comics reviewed, but more than anything there were two guys who couldnt stand... Jarvis Cocker.

It didn't ALL start here, but at the same time, it kinda did. Riding high on Wolverine's popularity from the late 70's run, that expanded and revamped a villain from a Hulk comic into a mainstay with the diverse X-Men team, Claremont took him solo. And to do this, in 1982, he teamed up with up-and-coming young artist, Frank Miller. Together they created the Japanese backdrop for Wolverine/Logan stories for decades to come.
In this 4 issue run, we get a good examination into what makes Logan tick, and how he balances being a good man and a berserker raging animal... And women. Does 'pussy get him killed', as we like to say here, on Comic Patrol? I mean, it might. But you'll have to tune in to know for sure!

We're back to cover DC's newest properties with their ABSOLUTE imprint. It hasnt been that long since we started in episode #100 but now we've returned to "Alpha World". Can they keep the interest they started with the Holy Trinity of (Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman), now that Martian Manhunter, Green Lanterns and Flash join the fold?
A lot of questions, a lot of issues - the comic patrol is here!

It's been a while since we've done an Across the Pages(Axp) instalment... A type of episode that we like to do where we cross examine (kinda) two similar-ish properties from different universes (sometimes). This ultimately gives us an excuse to do two episode topics at once, where we take in a comic run for each property, as well as a movie for each property as well.
This time around it's Thunderbolts and Suicide Squad. What came first? Well, a simple google search could tell you that, but let's talk about the two properties at once, shall we? A Marvel team of anti-heroes and a DC team of anti-heroes... Sort of. Let's dive inIn this episode we cover:Films:The Suicide Squad (2021)Thunderbolts* (2025)Comics:Suicide Squad: Kicked in the Teeth (2011)Thunderbolts: There is No High Road (2016)

We come back to our beloved Deadly Class with volume 4: Die For Me. If you've been following along with the past three volumea, you'll know that the "rats" of the school have been exposed and have targets on their backs. It is up to everybody else in the school to kill and graduate or flunk out of King's Dominion and return home, ashamed.  We won't tell you which characters are labeled as "rats" in this description, so if you wanna know who lives and who dies, boot us up!

We really enjoyed the first volume of Farmhand, and we really meant to get to this volume sooner than we did, but time is fickle and all that... Anyways, 60-something books later, we are BACK with Farmhand Vol 2, and boy is it seedy. Get it? Well, honestly, it's not that seedy, but I was looking for a pun.. prickly? Let's go with prickly. AND BOY IS IT PRICKLY! In this volume, the sins of the father come around, but not just for his kids, for the whole town, as the people who have been modified with one of Jedidiah's seeds are mutating in strange ways. Also, there's a green caterpillar dog.

Issue #10 of the new Jason Aaron Turtle run is out and just like we said, we love T-U-R-T-L-E POWER... as we're ongoing, ongoing and ongoing this new tmnt run!
Also, Dank doesn't miss an opportunity to address how the man was really a child, fell from his pedestal and never really was the one who should of been sitting in it. Viewer discretion is advised Dank really doesn't like Hulk Hogan.
We are going to check-in with which issues we read from last month and then look ahead for what's coming up in the solicitations for June, and pick out the ones that look most interesting to us. Our Pull List issues we cover in this episode are:
Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring #1
Death of the Silver Surfer #1
Sam & Twitch Case Files #15
Lost Fantasy #2
News From the Fallout #1
Hello Darkness #11
Blood Brothers Mother #4

Hey, guess what? Guy Ritchie did a comic book! ... KindaHe didn't exactly write it himself but it sure is advertised as that. It's about a guy who works for a rich guy who takes in homeless guys to help with chores until Russian guys come for the rich guy and they meet a group of other guys who pull heists. Still with us? Great! Then listen in to hear what we think when three different writers contribute to a comic book and whether it's a good idea or not to switch up said book's formula in the middle of the story.

The 90's were a time, and 1994 we were witnessing the Dark Ages of comics, although we didn't know. Welp -The Vision 1994 - helps us realize a lot about the 90's.
This story of Vision spans four issues of what could be an interesting take on "the man" split between -  the red synthezoid , Simon Williams and Alex Lipton.
But can they handle the weight needed to portray the robotic depth and density of this Marvel superhero?

And in Comic Patrol fashion, we couldn't have a pride series for the Hall of Fame, without a shame episode. It's been a long time coming, but we're here with our second inductee into our very own Hall of Fame for comic book influencers - and this is the part 3 you've been waiting for!
We went through almost his entire catalogue of comic books in parts ONE and TWO, and labelled those as "The Pride". This time, we delve into the 6 movie adaptations and one stolen scene, of his work, and Frankie-boy threw himself into everything.

Marvel's first family isn't just called that because it sounds clever. No, the Fantastic Four literally are the first family of Marvel Comics, and to celebrate that - as well as the new, upcoming flick - we are taking it back to 1965's Galactus Trilogy. That's right, the first appearance of the big, planet eating guy and his silver surfing henchman guy.
Does this read well 60 years later? Well, let me tell ya something: No. But is it iconic and fun to talk about? You betcha. Come along with us, step in our time machine and eat some planets with us or something?
