Comic Patrol
If you dig comic books and conversation between two would be friends, this is the podcast for you. We are wickedly good-looking, incredibly knowledgeable and mildly literate detectives who spent countless years rising the ranks over comic book creations we shared across the pages. We kept the spotlight on what we loved/hated the most on all of comic book culture, and anything that made us graphical fans from the beginning. Buckle in and join co-hosts Coke and Dank in this weekly podcast to get your ears perked with our brand of geek culture... This is our patrol, This is Comic Patrol. Warning: Hosts may experience brief moments of cheer as tangents of random discourse of rage often to distract and amuse all parties. #numeatz #sawftcheeze

It was a long time coming, and in Comic Patrol mythos, we created our own Hall of Fame for comic book writers and comic industry influencers.
With our first inductee we elected Alan Moore to our HOF, we now have reached the time to induct our next writer who made waves of influence and impact through the pages of comics, graphic novels and film: FRANK MILLER
We went through almost his entire catalogue of books and offerings in his DC, Marvel, Dark Horse and independent career. We refer to those offerings as "The Pride". This time, we delve deep into his DC run and a few other books from Image Comics, Oni Press and Legendary Comics:
Spawn #11 (1993)
Spawn/Batman One-shot (1994)
Bad Boy (1997)
Holy Terror (2011)
Ronin (1983)
Batman: Year One (1987)
All Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder #1-10 (2005-2008)
Superman: Year One #1-3 (2019)
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (1986)
The Dark Knight Strikes Again (2001)
The Dark Knight III: The Master Race (2015-2017)
The Dark Knight Returns: The Last Crusade (2016)
Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child (2019)
Soft Cheeses and New Meats, BUCKLE IN cause we go over drive for: The PRIDE of Frank Miller. PART ONE

Saga Vol 3 [Arc Analysis #99]
Thursday Mar 20, 2025
Thursday Mar 20, 2025
Back at it again for - Saga time! The THIRDINING And we can no longer lie about this Image published, Brian K. Vaughan written and Fiona Staples drawn: epic-of-spacegasim-proportions! The world is so big but that doesn't stop our eyes from reading more and more. We finally have 3 separate storylines converge all on the same side of the universe, planet Quietus. Finally the bloodlust Prince Robot IV and bounty hunter Will descend down on our newborn parents. Only they aren't as close to the prize as they would think. The world is just so big and the bangs are even bigger, to this continuing space soap opera.
With our basis covered, we dive deeper into the psyches of our main characters Alana (wings) and Marko (horns) and stellar plot device of baby turned toddler Hazel, retelling the story of how her parents saved her life. Its the not so side characters: Gwendolyn, Oswald, Kiara, Lying Cat and Sophie Brand that help keep our protagonists on their toes.
Weird is no longer an understatement, as Saga answers the question "Whats the opposite of war?" What once was really freakin' weird, is now the journey we have no reason to stop enjoying, so we won't!
Enjoy volume 3, Numeatz!

Saturday Mar 15, 2025
Saturday Mar 15, 2025
The last time we opened the pages of this Eisner nominated Image Comic produced - Bitter Root. It was our 31st Arc Analysis episode and admittedly we were dumbfounded...A book so beautiful with vibrant tones, line work and emotion, paired with a concept so original and new but... ultimately stuck with a story too muddled. We have returned back to the second arc of Bitter Root: Rage & Redemption. The question is: do Coke n Dank become more enraged or does this monster hunting family gain redemption?

Janey Belle returns and goes west, as she makes her way to the wild dessert oasis that is Las Vegas. If the first volume was a sinker, and volume two was a floater in a bowl, than this one, this one has to be good. right? amiright?

#102 - HBO's Spawn: Season 1
Thursday Feb 20, 2025
Thursday Feb 20, 2025
It's no secret that comic patrol was built on comics. But there is a large part of our childhood that was raised on the silver screen, with the cartoons we watched and salivated over. Even more are those cartoon images that we saw looong before we understood the content and subject matter it portrayed.
God bless those channels: Showcase and Teletoon as active tools in that coming of age!
It was 1997 when HBO's Spawn hit our screens up north and we were transfixed with the conflicted, tortured, demon assisted hell-spawn as he ran through the streets of New York looking for vengeance.
this show has two amazing things going for it:
1. A motivated Todd McFarlane taking his pet project global with a TV deal2. A silky, smooth, butter toned, silver throated Keith David to anchor that project as your lead character.
We didn't know what we were seeing at the time, but it is clearly a property that has stuck with us through time.
Buckle in sawftcheezes and numeatz as we pick sides between the ongoing war between heaven and hell. So turn off the lights... THIS IS SPAWN!

Money Shot Vol 1 [Arc Analysis #96]
Friday Feb 14, 2025
Friday Feb 14, 2025
Could be all so simple, a basic premise and loveable characters thrown into weekly adventures?
From wild minds writers Tim Seeley & Sarah Beattie with art from Kurt Michael
In the soon future of 2032, a scientist enlists her four brillaint co-workers to help securing funding for more research. The XXX-plorers would take to the starts on a new venture. SEX, with each other, with aliens, discovering of new planets ande sex, ne positions for science and streams, lots and lost of streams... of sex. The higher the streams and scores the more revenue this "science" team could pocket. From the studios of Vault Comics, this is Money Shot.
It has been described as a "genuinely a wonderfully fun, brilliantly illustrated comic. I love it." and that opinion isn't far from the truth. But this wild ride isn't without its faults along with its charms.
Buckle in numeatz as Coke n Dank blast off with the gang: lead scientist Tesla Coyle (Physicist), Constance Planck (Physicist), Kneels Bore (Astrophysicist), Trinity Spheres (Epidemiologist) & Super Massive Blackhole (Biochemist) with Little Shot (their camera) in tow.

Friday Jan 31, 2025
Friday Jan 31, 2025
Well well Numeatz, we are back with a book that couldn't help but make Coke AND Dank relive their childhood favourite moments AGAIN! Except this may be the father to all of those amazing woodland critter stories.Bats, owls, pigeons, rats are all included in this story by Canadian writer Kenneth Oppel and artist Christopher Steininger are the collaborators of Silverwing
Great adventure storytelling gets us every time and Silverwing is no exception. This has been a story that has been told for at least 25years so it stands as a testament of what great storytelling can do.
it flows, it soars, it swoops and its honestly, a great flight of fantasy and adventure! It has no business being this good and this fun while still being so engaging. So buckle in and listen to us find more reasons to keep talking everything Silverwing.

We3 [Arc Analysis #93]
Friday Jan 17, 2025
Friday Jan 17, 2025
As the makers of Comic Patrol we really only have a couple of rules.
Read what you're going to talk about
Don't pull any punches when you talk about it.
Both Coke and Dank take We3 under the microscope of what we love and loath about the story and artwork from famed writer Grant Morrison and stellar artist Frank Quitely.
The premise is simple: "three house pets weaponized for lethal combat by the government - as they search for "home" and ward off the shadowy agency that created them" What this story gives us is a simple tale of man's best friend- a dog, man's sometimes friend- a cat and child's choice- a bunny, into a cybernetic-built-killing-machines. Innocence flipped into dangerous weaponry but under who's control?
We3 is an action-packed story that doesn't slow down at any point as we follow 1,2 and 3 as they attempt to find rest, food and home. Now thats a good idea, but can we agree that it is a great execution? Can we both get behind how we read it and how we interpreted it?
Buckle in Sawftcheezes!

Our Official 100th episode, and the only way to make noise was in theDetective Comics's newest Universe. Absolutely!
DC has (kinda) recently launched it's new Absolute Universe, and we are here to help you catch up with it. It isn't the new continuity per-se, but it is a new look at many of their heroes, spinning out of the latest event, starting with, of course, the Holy Trinity.
We work with the direct precursor issues and even take a look at what's next to come in a few months. Buckle in the ride is universe ending and beginning as we fly through the pages of this relaunch of characters we thought we knew?
In this episode, we cover:
Absolute DC #1-4
DC All-In Special #1
Absolute Superman #1-3
Absolute Wonder Woman #1-3

Friday Jan 03, 2025
I think this one hit Dank different than Coke, I think this one Coke saw something deeper than Dank. Thus it's hard to fault a comic that got both of us to really take a step back and do more research with what we read.
These are stories you want, as comic book fans. you want stories that shake you, teach you and have you asking more questions than you had before you went in.
This one hits us, and it's good... plus it's based on true events. "the brief freedom experienced by a small pride of captive lions, who escape from Baghdad Zoo during the 2003 invasion of Baghdad by the U.S"
written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Niko Henrichon

Friday Dec 27, 2024
Friday Dec 27, 2024
It took until the end of the year, but we watched, and we binged and we called it one of best Marvel/Disneys best shows the-new-MCU had to offer!
It's fair to say that the MCUTV list has been a lot of hit and miss. Often not knowing how to match their comic counterpart to a digestable and watchable screen series. But we don't think we've had a better pairing than Agatha and her Witches coven.
There is a lot of gold when it comes to Agatha All Along including all the trials it took to get to this point. But we do our best to break down, insights, motivations and twists on twist with this gem of a series.
Big shout-outs to Kathryn Hymn and all she breathed into this project from Wandavision all the way down to the ballad of the witches road

Zombie Tramp Vol 1 [Arc Analysis #91]
Thursday Dec 12, 2024
Thursday Dec 12, 2024
There's something about comic books with titles that tell you everything you need to know. Zombie Tramp is one of those: the main character is both a zombie and a tramp, and that's all there is to it. Started up as a one man passion project, this is the beginnings of Janey Belle's long run in comics, and it's all about how she came to be a curvaceous, man-eating, undead.. thing. Making house calls wasn't anything Janey was a complete stranger to, but when she runs into the forces of darkness in one certain situation, it's sink or swim. Listen in for our thoughts!

Sex Criminals Vol 2: Two Worlds, One Cop [Arc Analysis #90]
Monday Dec 09, 2024
Monday Dec 09, 2024
The premise is simple: people who have sex, freeze time and decide to do criminal-y things. That was Vol. 1. This Arc Analysis episode brings back the orgasming pair for a "Two Worlds, One Cop" (great title) follow up, but is it an improvement on all we've read in the previous instalment?
Chip Zdarsky and Matt Fraction return to give this love struck, time bending and orgasmic pair another change to make right. as they attempt to move through their lives and relationship with the knowledge that they are not alone in cumworld!
The duo at Comic Patrol were amped to read deeper into this unique as hell book, but the question remains was their enough laughter, plot and intrigue to keep the pages turning for the follow up?
One things for sure the perfect circle(circumference) does exist.. right Suzie?

Mullet Cop #1 [Arc Analysis #89]
Thursday Nov 21, 2024
Thursday Nov 21, 2024
"Original" doesn't begin to paint the fun loving genius that is Mullet Cop. We at Comic Patrol are always a fan of any Writer/Artist that takes up the two impossible jobs all by their lonesome, because its hard. Respect.
Scout Comics and Tom Lintern help bring us Mullet Cop "After a near-death experience, FRED, a mall cop goes undercover as a manager at an all-you-can-eat buffet. With the help of his coworkers and a supercomputer/microwave called M.I.T.T. (MALL INDUSTRIES TWO THOUSAND), he takes on gangs and corporate thugs."
It sounds as crazy as it is, but manages to squeeze the laughes and intrigue right in with every line stroke and panel. If you're looking for a futuristic, neon pastel, gang warfare, with mutants, robots, and more... well I think you're in the right place.

#96 - DSTLRY
Thursday Nov 14, 2024
Thursday Nov 14, 2024
It not often we get a chance to read comics from the starting position and move from ground up, but we lucked out with DSTLRY.
Established by David Steinberger and Chip Mosher, in the olden days of May 2023... I know right? Ages ago. But it's that new look and early inception that has given artist and writers a fresh perspective, setting themselves up as the house that writers built"focus on ethics, creator empowerment, and equity. Along with up-front participation by the founding creators, DSTLRY sets aside an additional 3% of company equity to be distributed among the creators who have projects released within the first three years. This equity will be distributed based of performance of titles"
So what sells gets paid more. Seems simple right?
Well buckle up as Coke n Dank give you the rundown of all the books under this brand new house, from paid, to laid, to shade, everything gets a look!
The series:
The Big Burn
Blasfamous
The Blood Brothers Mother
Gone
Life
The Missionary
One for Sorrow
Somna
Spectregraph
Through Red Windows
Time Waits
White Boat
