Zombie Tramp Vol 1 [Arc Analysis #91]

There's something about comic books with titles that tell you everything you need to know. Zombie Tramp is one of those: the main character is both a zombie and a tramp, and that's all there is to it. Started up as a one man passion project, this is the beginnings of Janey Belle's long run in comics, and it's all about how she came to be a curvaceous, man-eating, undead.. thing. Making house calls wasn't anything Janey was a complete stranger to, but when she runs into the forces of darkness in one certain situation, it's sink or swim. Listen in for our thoughts!

Sex Criminals Vol 2: Two Worlds, One Cop [Arc Analysis #90]

The premise is simple: people who have sex, freeze time and decide to do criminal-y things. That was Vol. 1. This Arc Analysis episode brings back the orgasming pair for a "Two Worlds, One Cop" (great title) follow up, but is it an improvement on all we've read in the previous instalment?
Chip Zdarsky and Matt Fraction return to give this love struck, time bending and orgasmic pair another change to make right. as they attempt to move through their lives and relationship with the knowledge that they are not alone in cumworld!  
The duo at Comic Patrol were amped to read deeper into this unique as hell book, but the question remains was their enough laughter, plot and intrigue to keep the pages turning for the follow up?
One things for sure the perfect circle(circumference) does exist.. right Suzie?

Mullet Cop #1 [Arc Analysis #89]

"Original" doesn't begin to paint the fun loving genius that is Mullet Cop. We at Comic Patrol are always a fan of any Writer/Artist that takes up the two impossible jobs all by their lonesome, because its hard. Respect.
Scout Comics and Tom Lintern help bring us Mullet Cop "After a near-death experience, FRED, a mall cop goes undercover as a manager at an all-you-can-eat buffet. With the help of his coworkers and a supercomputer/microwave called M.I.T.T. (MALL INDUSTRIES TWO THOUSAND), he takes on gangs and corporate thugs."
It sounds as crazy as it is, but manages to squeeze the laughes and intrigue right in with every line stroke and panel. If you're looking for a futuristic, neon pastel, gang warfare, with mutants, robots, and more... well I think you're in the right place.

#96 - DSTLRY

It not often we get a chance to read comics from the starting position and move from ground up, but we lucked out with DSTLRY. 
Established by David Steinberger and Chip Mosher, in the olden days of May 2023... I know right? Ages ago. But it's that new look and early inception that has given artist and writers a fresh perspective, setting themselves up as the house that writers built"focus on ethics, creator empowerment, and equity. Along with up-front participation by the founding creators, DSTLRY sets aside an additional 3% of company equity to be distributed among the creators who have projects released within the first three years. This equity will be distributed based of performance of titles"
So what sells gets paid more. Seems simple right?

Robot 13: Colossus! [Arc Analysis #88]

Whatta debut for this 3 issue book "Colossus!" doesn't sum up the adventure this little water-cooler-globe-head-warrior takes on when unsuspecting fishermen catch him on there boat. He is ROBOT 13, with little to know understanding of where is he from, who he is and where he is going, it doesn't take long for him to see purpose. FIGHT, ROBOT, FIGHT!
Writer Thomas Hall and art Daniel Bradford paint a mythological world, as an unlikely hero birthed from the ocean depths engages in a life-or-death battle with a terrifying Kraken. And thats just the opening pages. With just subtle hints to his background, another life lived and maybe a bigger epic picture, it's fair to say readers are left wanting more of this fun and flowing ride.

#95 - HALLOWEEEN FLICK-PATROL-TACULAR

SPOILERS FROM THE JUMP
Welp we did it, we made it, the Patrol arrived on time to celebrate mfn Halloween! And we did it in Coke n Dank fashion, with an all-time, rated-R, cult classic,  Halloween anthology, pulp fiction, comic book movie. Writer/director -Michael Dougher gives us 2007's - Trick 'R Treat, and there's a lot to see in this fictional town of Warren Valley, Ohio on the night of October 31st Halloween Night
Less is more as we don't spare the nods, connections, links, lore and laugh in this movie, while we manage to find out Coke's first bought comic ever (BooM)

True Love Confessions #1 [Arc Analysis #87]

Welp, what can one say about 1950's comics. They're outta date, they're filled with propaganda, they lack diverse voice or faces, they don't age well, a lot of "men" are pulling the strings(story, art, concept, names). This is especially true for 1954's True Love Confession #1, but gawd damn are they hilarious to live read. 
This is the first time (probably not the last) Coke and Dank called an audible mid-review and acted out all the voices in this comic, and the results are way  funnier than actually reading the panels to yourself. Follow along as Coke n Dank find True Loves Confession #1, truly terrible and lovingly hilarious.

Quantum & Woody Vol 2: In Security [Arc Analysis #86]

Its been a while since we read up on our favourite half brothers Eric and Woody, as they learned the reason their father wanted them to stay together (think power gauntlets). What was supposed to be the perfect pairing of Offence and Defence, humour and sternness, is the yin and yang that brings you, Quantum & Woody.
Vol. 2 returns us to the pair as they deal with the fallout from their previous adventure with their new 3rd roommate, Vincent Van goat, who should drive and where they'll end up by books end. 
The only issue is will we get deeper with these characters who have only scratched the surface of what they can do? Or will we get trapped in a formula that will repeat the same methods of joke, joke, boom, joke?

Across the Pages (AxP) is our series where we take two similar-ish characters/teams/properties from different creators or publishers and give their various forms of media a well-deserved spotlight.
Both of these characters uphold the law in a satirical and exaggerated world, both in their own ways. One is a cyborg who was forced into his situation and trying to reconnect with his humanity, the other is a clone who is so successful at cutting ties with his humanity, he IS the law moreso than simply upholding it.In this episode, we cover: RoboCop: Roulette (1993)Judge Dredd: Block Mania (1981)Judge Dredd (1995)RoboCop (1987)

The Ninjettes [Arc Analysis #84]

What do you get when you dress up killers like schoolgirls but also give them ninja-like masks? You call them Ninjettes, and they are what this book is all about. Yes, they are a spinoff from Jennifer Blood, but we didn't know that at the time, so we weren't sure what to expect. What we got was, well, schoolgirl ninja-esque women with rage issues. We think? Listen in for more!

One of the latest Avengers alt-universe limited runs, where heroes are hated, the government is bought and paid for, and Steve Rogers is struggling to keep his head down any longer.
How does it start? How well does it end? Is the journey from start to finish fun? Are the characters interesting? And does the world keep us hooked? Assholes [Arc Analysis #83]

it is not often a book can keep us turning the page, whilst making every panel revealed a spit-take of audible laughter and enjoyment. We cant hide our excitement for this book! Not only does this book seemingly reinvent ways to tell multiple stories, but gawd-damn is it funny.
A book so intent on showing the juvenile side of two protagonists, as they seeming choose to out-due each others decent into debauchery, foulness and ridiculousness fuelled alcoholism. This is @ssholes.
A book filled with vanity of the rich, profanity, classism, ageism, sexism, chauvinism, macho-madness, competitiveness, depravity, insecurity and boyish irreverence.
This book has a lot going for it on the surface, its clean paneling and illustrations punctuate the humour, its plotting of story progresses through a game of golf and 18 chapters, its written well and almost too familiar, and its hilarious - almost immediately. 
What we find just barely under the surface, is that these two boys, are not men, are not heroes, and in this case these two @ssholes are actively trying to avoid any redemption, as we learn more about how these schmucks treat themselves, each other and anyone within earshot.

Something is Killing the Children Vol 3: A Game of Nowhere [Arc Analysis #82]

It's been less than the last block of Arc Analysis between volumes of Something is Killing the Children (63episodes, AA#77), but we had to see how this story played out!  Shoutouts to BOOM Studios! writer:James Tynion IV and artist: Werther Dell’Edera. Again the mood and temperature of this book are great, it iss both creepy, eerie, and exciting to enter this universe where something has killed almost all of the children and were still playing catch up to see why.
Continuing immediately after the events of the first and second arc, this volume aims to wrap-up all the loose ends in the small town of Archer's Peak, as we follow Erica's last attempts to escape from the worst weekend ever? Can she do it? is everything resolved? Will the town accept the fate given to them? Whats the bus schedule? this and many more questions asked, but were not sure if answered! Ice Cream Man Vol 1 [Arc Analysis #81]

What can be said about an anthological, horror influenced, possible what-if, purgatory placed, mind-melt  of a book.. well a lot (and thats just Volume 1). But that doesn't begin to scratch the surface of this Image produced comic. W. Maxwell Prince written and art by Martín Morazzo. They take us on a ride that even after reading it, I still cant fully describe it. 
So forgive me if I can't comprehend all that is Ice Cream Man Vol 1. Each story is self-contained with their own protagonists, and own hard and torturous lessons to learn. The only connection comes with what would be an eerie musical theme coming from a  colourful and inviting ice-cream truck. The driver that would be the "Ice Cream Man-the weaver of stories" What we can't figure out, is if this is a friend. a foe. a god. a demon. a clown or the man who, with a snap of his fingers changes the course of the direction to all he encounters.
I say this with no exaggeration, Coke N Dank literally talked themselves into circles trying to figure out what to make of this book, and if they liked it. So the question is, will our confusion lead to you turning the page?
